Our Program with Sunny is to maintain the proven QH vintage lines that are the cornerstone of any successful modern performance horse with the extra competitive edge. We believe that outcrossing them correctly will continue producing the high quality athlete needed to compete at higher levels and still hold up in mind and body for use outside the arena for many years.

The QH is no longer used to work cattle all day on ranches or ride many miles in harsh conditions. Those QH’s were proven through everyday use that showed their natural ability. We strive to keep those QH's in our program as a base and then add the new ‘hot dog’ lines to reproduce them for the future. With Sunny, we now have both a Vintage and a Modern QH stallion to cross on our AQHA mares.

The CUTTING HORSE: Horses bred with the genetics that possess a ‘natural’ working cow instinct embody a dominant genetic trait that naturally shows at liberty and under saddle. The instinct makes them want to go after a cow to stop it, corral it, control it, go through thickets and straight up or down the mountain if necessary to bring it back. The working cow horse has a competetive will that stops at nothing to complete the job you ask it to do with all its being while staying focused on the task at hand with great confidence and agility. It enjoys engaging in fierce competition with the cow to overpower it. They will compete with this attitude in everything you give them to do.

The SPEED HORSE: QH’s that are bred for racing and speed have a ‘heart’ for being out front of the competition when pitted against others vying for the same goal, to cross the finish line first. They will push with all they have to get their nose ahead of the one beside you. Don’t give up, don’t quit, and push past whatever they think they can do attitude. Their bones and conformation are built to hold up and the lungs and heart to exert any extra stamina required and they do it without hesitation. Whatever task you give them in any performance event, they will push to get ahead of and be better than the one beside them, and to do more than they think or you think they can. They have a ‘drive’ to win and compete with great confidence and leadership from within.

We believe that combining the cutting horse with the speed horse creates the outcross that increases their competitive edge to succeed at ANY performance discipline because of the inbred ‘will to win’ attitude, better size and bone with a willing mind has proven the offspring for many years.
